The RS200 and RS400 Fleet
RS fleet captain:

Both the 200 and 400 are modern doublehanders of a fast but uncomplicated plastic design. They have fully battened mainsails, alloy spars and asymmetric spinnakers. Boats can be found for £3500 secondhand, or are available 'off the peg' between £6000 and £8000. The 400 is larger and faster than the 200, and therefore requires a higher crew weight as can be seen below:-

The Blithfield RS Fleet annually attend the Abersoch Dinghy Week. The sailing often happens in a variety of weather conditions from full on planing to flat calm, which can be most frustrating! One race is held each day, with civilized afternoon starts for two man dinghies and early morning starts for single handers. With sailing straight off the safe sandy beach there is plenty of time for sunbathing and sandcastles. Excellent BBQ's are often organized by Alison and Nigel at their sea view chalet for the entire Blithfield crowd and friends, leading to parking problems and one or two thick heads!

The sun in Wales is often surprising, when it does get hotter and hotter and the wind eventually drops, everyone can enjoy a traditional beach holiday with plenty of ice creams and ice cold lagers. For anyone looking for a seaside holiday that includes some sailing, I would thoroughly recommend Abersoch Dinghy Week, we'll be going back for sure!
