The Goats of Blithfield Hall

As you may have noticed, the club burgee and signage is dominated by a depiction of a Goat and here is the reason: A unique herd of black necked wild goats used to roam Bagot woods, and were kept in the grounds of Blithfield Hall, overlooking the reservoir.

The Bagot Goats are named after the Bagot family after been given to Sir John Bagot by King Richard II in thanks for his hunting. As local lore has it, as long as the Bagot family maintain the herd, so long shall they survive. Permission to use the Bagot Goat as the Blithfield emblem was kindly granted by Lady Nancy Bagot.
