Midsummer
Regatta 2009
27th-28 June

The action packed weekend started on Saturday morning
with the Midsummer Madnesss events. As the sailing club
was decorrated for the evening party, the junior members
of the club were having fun on and off the water with
various team activites ranging from a "rigging"
treasure hunt to collecting floating objects from the
water whilst sailing around a short course.

On Saturday evening, the club celebtated it's 40th
Anniversary. It was great to see so many old faces back
at the club to catch-up, enjoy the pig roast and soak up
the atmosthphere. Commodore Andrew Felthouse was joined
by the previous commodores and Ken Rogers, the earliest
surviving Commodore, helped cut the celebratory cake.

On the water, the 2nd Blithfield Bottle
boat race was won by Chris Woodhead, with his clevery
engineered craft. Unfortunatley, the wind was not so kind
for the dinghy racing and only 3 of the intended 4 races
we run for the Founders Cup. This was won by Steve and
Gill in their Merlin.

The party carried on late into the night
and a good time was had by all, although the some sailors
looked a little weerie on the Sunday morning! Many thanks
to all those who helped out with the enormous task of
organising and runing the event - both on and off the
water.
