Radio Control Racing

IMG_2092.jpeg

‘For those who prefer to keep their feet dry, we have a Radio Controlled racing fleet who mainly sail DF65’s, however, all designs are welcome to join us. A new 65 costs about £270 but pre used boats can be significantly less.

We meet most Saturday mornings from about 11.00 for some racing and boat tuning sessions.

All members are welcome to have a sail and we have boats that you can borrow. Racing documents can be found at the bottom of this page.

Great News!! We are now affiliated to the MYA-UK. See link 'here'.

Racers of any age can join in....here we see ages ranging from 11 to 'erm..old'. Younger & new sailors find this an extremely useful way to learn sailing rules & techniques from the safety of dry land.

A DF '95' being sailed in plenty of breeze with a reduced rig size.

A few useful links for getting started:

Launching and recovery takes place from the pontoon but the boats are controlled from a prepared area of embankment which provides improved visibility and freedom of movement .

The RC section has its own racing marks which are laid on the day to provide the best fit course for the weather conditions. Moreover, the Club is starting to accumulate expertise in holding MYA events such as the Feb 23 DF95 races.

Pre- race preparations in the club house. Everyone helping others with rig settings & tips. If in doubt....just ask!! They are a really helpful & friendly bunch...and generally have cake for the 'half time interval'!!
