Service Description

Junior Windsurfing Taster Day - RYA Youth Stage 1 of 4 This Windsurfing Taster Day provides a short duration introduction to the sport of windsurfing which will aim to get you to experience the thrill windsurfing across the wind. Not too much theory but plenty of fun. RYA Youth Windsurf Stage 1 essentially takes the main elements of Day 1 of the 2 Day Adult RYA Start Windsurf course. We’ll use land demonstrations & simulator practice, on-water experience and as little theory that we can get away with! What you’ll learn 1. Introduction to Windsurf Kit and Personal equipment. 2. Splashing around gaining Board balancing skills – perhaps try out some wind sticks (a simple sail). 3. On the simulator with a proper rig – learn to lift the sail, turn the board and power up across the wind. 4. Back to the water – learn to self-rescue and put into practise your new simulator skills – sail across the wind & return. (photo time!) 5. Either more practise to sail across the wind or a further challenge to sail towards the wind plus a powered turn (the tack). Duration 1 Day Timings Start 09.30 Finish 16.00. Max 6* people per course. * Variable - Dependent on the number of confirmed Instructors & Kit Demand for simultaneous Wing Courses Please arrive 20 mins prior to start to allow time to Check In, confirm Health Declarations and change prior to start of the activity.
